Tips To Survive Apartments Without Airconditioning
Renting an apartment without air-conditioning is a no-no for many. But for some who wanted to save electricity (due to budget constraint), its pretty perfect.
If you are a first time apartment renter and you don’t have that kind of budget to rent an apartment while paying high electric bills, here are some “hacks” that can help you. Some may call this as survival hacks but for some, its pretty much a great tip to save energy
Keep your curtains or blinds closed. This can effectively lower the temperature inside your house by up to some degrees.
Appliances that are plugged in even when they are not in use still consume energy. They also still radiate heat that can add up some degrees to your rented space. Always unplug everything that are not being used.
Light bulbs, no matter how energy efficient they are, contributes heat to your home. Turning them off once in a while can make a huge difference in terms of room temperature.
Keep your doors open. As long as there is no sunlight directly coming in through your doors, this tip can allow cool air to circulate around your home.
Hot air rises so putting your mattress on the floor can make you stay cool. If you can, you can also setup a hammock in place of your bed or mattress. Aside from being an effective space saver, you will also feel cooler even without air-conditioner.
