7 Packing Tips and Tricks That You Should Read Before Moving
Moving from one apartment to another can be stressful, if you don’t know how to do it right. The whole process of packing, organizing, transporting and finally unpacking your items at your new found place could be really daunting without proper preparation and plan.
If you are planning to move to a new apartment, here are some effective moving tips and ideas that could help you pack your items easier and more secure.
For heavy items, you can use small boxes and for light items use big boxes. Don’t ever pack heavy items like books in big boxes as they make it harder to carry and move around. This can also minimize the chance of damaging or breaking your items.
Always remember to put light items at the top of heavy ones. If you are loading the truck yourself, put heavy boxes first (towards the front of the truck) before loading the lighter boxes.
Don’t leave empty spaces in the box. You can fill the gaps with towel, packing paper or cloth so items inside won’t move when being moved. This can effectively minimize damage at your stuff.
Don’t put your bathroom items and kitchen items in one box. This will make unpacking much easier because you will know the exact location where the box must be unpacked. You should also label each and every box for proper identification. You can also put numbers into them so you can easily track them down when you unpack.
Tape the top and bottom seams of the box. Make a couple of wraps around the box’ top and bottom edge because this is where the weight of items is concentrated. Make sure they are tightly sealed and tape for easier and safer moving.
If you hire a mover, make sure to tell them about your expensive arts that need extra care when being carried and move. If you are doing the move yourself, make sure to use bubble wraps or any protective covers/frame s for your expensive items. Never take chances as accidents may happen while your items are being moved.
For breakable items such as dishes and your favorite mugs, you must put packing paper around each one. Place some padding (you can use bunched-up papers) above and below of your items. Cups and bowls can be stacked up with one another with papers (as padding) in between. Make sure to put enough padding that can serve as cushion for your breakable items inside the box. And oh, don’t forget to label them as fragile.
With the above given tips, packing and moving your items could be a breeze.
