Not all cats are ideal for indoor living. There are some breeds that don’t like being kept in small spaces. There are breeds that have high energy levels (aka loves to play around) that can cause property damage.

If you are living or about to live in an apartment and you are thinking about getting a cat as a companion, below are some breeds that you must consider.  They are all perfect for apartment living as they require less territory, tolerant and placid in nature.

Persian

If you don’t mind brushing furs from time to time, Persian cats are perfect for you. They have almost zero energy as they tend to sleep all day long.  Nicknamed as “furniture with fur”, Persian cats can remain inactive for long period of time.

Ragdoll

Large, laid back cat that runs to meet and greet you at your door. Very gentle and have sweet temperament too. Nicknamed as “the gentle giants”, ragdoll cats usually play without extending their claws.

Maine Coon

Maine Coon is one of the largest cat breeds in the world. They can weigh up to 25 pounds and up to 45 inches in length. Despite the big size, this breed is surprisingly docile. This breed is also referred as “gentle giant” because of its gentle, mild-mannered, and friendly demeanor.

Sphynx

Wanted an almost fur and hair free apartment? Sphynx is the breed for you.  They are hairless cat breed that mostly stay indoors to stay warm and to avoid sunburn from intense sunlight. They are friendly and playful in nature despite being categorized as evil and menace character at some movies and films in Hollywood.

Russian Blue

This breed may not be that popular unlike the four other breeds above. But in terms of having a good behavior and being gentle around the house, this breed is one of the best. They have shy nature around strangers but very devoted and affectionate with their loved ones.
