I can’t stress enough how awesome the state of Michigan is. With its beautiful state parks and wonders of nature, a lot of people already considers Michigan as one of the best state ever.
Sleeping Bear Dunes, Mackinac Island, Isle Royale and Grand Haven are just few of the many jaw-dropping Michigan places you can think of. In fact, they are just the “tip of the iceberg” when it comes to Michigan destinations. Below are six more captivating places in The Mitten State that you probably haven’t heard before.
The Platte River is located in the northern part of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Its mouth is located in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and much of the rest is in the Pere Marquette State Forest. Its crystal-clear waters snake around the sand, forests and hills makes it the perfect place to post up with a canoe and a fishing rod. There are three boat launches, a canoe launch and three picnic areas on the river in the national lakeshore. The river above Platte Lake tends to be much swifter and colder than the lower stretch, which is warmed considerably by it passage through the relatively shallow, 3-mile (4.8 km) stretch of Platte Lake.

Lac La Belle (French for “Lake Beautiful”) is the name given to both a lake and a small unincorporated community in Keweenaw County in Michigan. The lake contains Northern Pike, Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Perch, Bluegill, Sunfish, Rock Bass, Carp and an occasional Muskie.
The Little Gratiot River and several creeks, empty into Lac La Belle. A small roadside park within the town contains Haven Falls on Haven Creek, which also empties into the lake.
Lac La Belle has an active summer tourist industry, with many summer cottages and resorts. The area has many dense forests and small mountains. There are backwoods outfitters who guide hikers through these areas. In the winter, the nearby Mount Bohemia attracts skiers and snowboarders.
Turnip Rock is a small geological formation in Michigan. It is a stack located in Lake Huron, in shallow water a few meters offshore, near the rock called the Thumbnail which is the extreme tip of Pointe Aux Barques, a small peninsula in Pointe Aux Barques Township which in turn is the extreme tip of The Thumb, a large peninsula comprising several counties in eastern Michigan
Turnip Rock was one of twenty finalists in the 2013 “Seven Wonders of Michigan” contest sponsored by the Detroit Free Press and the Lansing State Journal.

The Alger Underwater Preserve is a preservation area in the U.S. state of Michigan. Located in Lake Superior, it protects waters that lie offshore the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and the Grand Island National Recreation Area.
The Alger Underwater Preserve is home to a number of intact shipwrecks and underwater caves. Scuba diving is the best way to view the wrecks and explore the caves. Visitors can also take a glass-bottom boat tour (pictured above), which crosses over the shipwrecks alongside Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
The Michigan Legacy Art Park is a 30-acre (120,000 m2) outdoor sculpture park located near Thompsonville, Michigan, on the grounds of Crystal Mountain Resort. It is open year-round and includes 47 works of art created by more than 27 artists. It also has 1.6 miles (2.6 km) of hiking trails.
